Shift(in’) through the Holiday party

Each of us would definitely own at least one figure hugging body con dress that was an impulse buy during the holiday season coz admit it, that’s so glamorous and screams holiYAYs! But how many times do we actually wear that to a party where you want to eat some food and drink some wine and dance all night? Mmm maybe never? I’m guilty of doing the same, as a result of which I have a bunch of body con dresses lying in a dark corner of my closet, never to be used again!

This holiday season, I decided to choose more wisely and invested in a shift dress instead! If you think shift dresses are a summer affair, you would be pleasantly surprised at how versatile that silhouette actually is! I actually picked up this dress for my birthday last month and it has already done multiple rounds this holiday season! Velvet is always my go-to fabric when it comes to holiday season because it gives the right amount of glam and shine needed for a holiday party. The best part about this dress – it’s not figure hugging and you can eat all you want without worrying about that food baby ruining your pictures 😀

Instead of going for a solid color, which is what many people would choose in a velvet dress, I went for this floral number which gives a vintage feel to the outfit without being too gaudy for the occasion. I added these velvet floral print statement boots which I’ve been wearing on repeat because it has the perfect heel height and draws the right amount of attention so as to not steal the thunder from your outfit 😉 You can also add some statement waist belt to add some shape to the outfit and make it look more put together. For the accessories, I kept it simple and coordinated with black and gold accents.
